project #21: iPod sleeve

I got a wee bonus at work so I rewarded myself with an iPod. Woohoo! A little knitted sleeve seemed to be just the thing to keep it safe from harm in my overflowing bag. I was very excited about my new purchase when I got home from work on Friday and quickly whipped this out. I just knit the sleeve in a 1x1 rib going by the iPod measurements I found on the web. My iPod arrived yesterday, so I finished it last night after confirming that my new little toy would fit. Unfortunately, my camera didn't capture the shocking pink yarn very well.

The Project: iPod sleeve
The Yarn: Rich More Access Du! (leftover from kinki scarf)
The Needles: 4mm bamboo
Started: April 29 2005
Finished: May 3 2005

The earbuds that came with the iPod are going to have to go. Perhaps I have abnormally small ears, but those things hurt! I'm temporarily substiting some el cheapo headphones I picked up to use with my computer. However, this new toy will be a great thing to have on my long commute to/from work each day.

Inspired by joleen, I'll show you all of the crap essential things I was carrying in my handbag to get me through my commute and my day.

Handbag

What's in my handbag?
  • Makeup - I don't usually carry around this much, but I'm going out right after work today and didn't have time to do much this morning.
  • Aveda hand relief - I'm addicted to the stuff!
  • Wallet
  • Cram Cream Card holder
  • Current knitting project (Orangina)
  • Sunglasses
  • New iPod!
  • Mobile Phone - I love the phone, but am in hate with Cingular right now!
  • Notepad and pens
  • Vintage scarf

Cute sleeve! You can buy a little earbud adapter kit, at somewhere like Best Buy, to make them smaller.

Thanks! It's fun to crank out a quick and dirty project like this, especially when the other project on the needles is lace.

Thanks also for the tip on the headphones. I'm going to have to go look for those.

You could do a NARS ad! lol. Everything looks so cute! :D I have a new iPod too. I got these shuga bud earphones (http://www.plumparty.com/partysupplies/18205.html) from plum party for my birthday. They kind of hurt too but they're really cute! haha..

oh PS- I took the reciepts out too. ;) shhh..

I will confess that I own a LOT of Nars products, but my Nars guy is too wonderful for words, so it is ok.

Those earphones are adorable, but my I know my midget ears won't be able to handle them! It's tragic!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who "censored" my in my bag photo. Someone needs to invent a purse-sized shredder.

    Gotta love Nars!

    Isn't it the best?

ooooh look at all that nars! You're bag looks so great compared to my huge DJ bag I carry full of:

    dead batteries
    1001 pencils
    2 mac lip glasses
    a compact
    lip brushes
    glasses
    sunglasses
    cd player
    cds
    jimmy hoffa

I was kind of embarassed when I realized how color coordinated everything was.

Hoffa must be very smelly by now. I hope you have febreeze with you!

The Nars shown in that photo is but a sliver of what I own. I am afraid that I am a wee bit addicted to nice cosmetics.

no apologies I'm a cosmetic whore too, so tell me baby cakes 'caues it's driving me crazy what are the products/colors in your collection or at least in that photo? Personally I can't live without gipsy lipstick

ooh i'm liking the 'what's in your bag?' idea, and i really must give you kudos for the Nars and Stila love.

I'm glad there are others out there who share my Nars obsession! Let's see, what cosmetics did I have in my bag that day...

Nars lip palette (a freebie from my beloved Jonathan at Neiman Marcus). My favorite shade in that palette is Medea.
Nars blush in Sin. I love to wear the Orgasm blush and then put a pop of the Sin on the apples of my cheeks.
Nars eye shadow in Cyprus. For day this looks really nice with a charcoal liner. At night add in a light shimmer on the brow (I use a Stila shadow for this. I think the shade is Oasis).
    Nars multiple in Maldives
Nars lippies in dolce vita (my favorite my lips only better color) and flaming dust (gorgeous sheer red).
Clinique almost lipstick in Black Honey.
Stila lip glazes. These were a set that my parents gave me for Christmas.

I used to be seriously out of hand with my cosmetic buying, but I've gotten a lot better. The funny thing is that my makeup looks pretty subtle. I don't think most people would realize what a makeup ho I am!

you're such a big fan of NARS. I love their Dolce Vita lipstick.

Dolce Vita is my favorite lipstick. I wouldn't want to know how many tubes I've gone through in that shade.

What are the measurement's for the ipod (width and length), for I need them in order to make an ipod cozy for my dear cousin for christmas. ^_^

    ...and knitting

    • True confessions of a novice knitter!
I learned to knit a few years ago, and started a knit blog so I could keep a journal of my knitting progress (or lack thereof).
