Debbie Stoller's new-ish book Happy Hooker appealed to me, so I found some Project Spectrum appropriate yellow kitchen cotton (sugar 'n cream) in my stash and decided to try again to learn how to crochet.
You may recall my first attempt at crochet. I got the single crochet down, but the gauge and everything was way off, and the bottom of the bag ended up way bigger than the top. Coincidentally, Happy Hooker has an adorable little project called the fat-bottom bag. I really would like to make this appropriately big-bottomed bag at some point, so for Project Spectrum this month I'm swatching away and trying to practice the different crochet stitches.
If you want to see some real crochet, go visit Carrie and take a look at her wonderful in progress Prepster jacket (also from the Happy Hooker book).
My other Project Spectrum contribution this month is a collage of photos of some of my yellow and/or orange records (details on the flickr photo page).

- Knitting magazine blogs and errata - I totally understand where they are coming from, but in the interest of transparency, wouldn't it be helpful if a knitting magazine had an errata-specific blog?

gosh, thanks for the props! your double crochets look great up there. i love that bag pattern so much -- i'm really dying to make one, maybe in a green or gray. will you embellish with a flower? i'm also tempted by the bolero and beauregard.

I'm thinking I need to jump on the crochet bandwagon...I'm getting no knitting done lately, so adding another hobby might not be the best idea right now! Yours looks cute so far!

your crochet looks awesome! I wish I could crochet : (
love the mosaic and great links! I often wonder about buzz marketing in a lot of blogs I read. I wonder whos getting a kickback out there?

I really enjoyed your V&S links this morning. "Look at me being serious!" Christ - I laughed out loud! And, the buckle shoes of death - I have a very similar pair and it's like risking my ass every time I put them on. Who designs shoes with shiny bottoms that slip on everything?! The buzz marketing piece was thought-provoking. The knit blog community is clearly a HUGE market, and I hadn't really considered the consequences of ranting about this or that. Thanks for sharing.

HEY! Great job on the crocheting!!! Good for you! Now you can listen to my crochet podcast at www.crochetcast.com while you're crocheting away ;-) I'm hoping to get a new episode out this weekend... but that's yet to be determined. Keep up the great work.
