- My evil cold came back so I haven't been doing much knitting. Instead, I've been pawing through Glampyre's Fitted Knits and Twinkle's Big City Knits looking for ideas for future projects that I won't actually get around to knitting. Glampyre/Stefanie has created an errata page for her book (I love when designers are on top of that). If you'd like to knitalong or ask questions there is a Fitted Knits Flickr group. There's also a Flickr group for the Twinkle book -- started by Knit Lit Kate, I do believe.
- The montages are my favorite part of the Oscars. Here's a video montage of photos from classic Hollywood as shot by Magnum photographers [via]. I also watch the Oscars for the gowns. My favorite was Anne Hathaway's Valentino. I know it wasn't well liked by others, but I loved it.
- One definite no-show for the Oscars is American Vogue’s editor in chief, Anna Wintour.”No way. I’m off to London to see Equus,” she told me. Asked about the controversial nude scene by Harry Potter star, Daniel Radcliffe – currently Heat magazine’s ‘Torso of the Week’ – Ms Wintour smiled and said:”I’m ready!”. [via]

- I know I've been reading too many bag blogs when $1200 for a covetous handbag doesn't seem unreasonable to me. However, this is even more out of control. $148,000 for a bag? Maybe I'll have to stick to goofy handbags like this one. If kate spade is more your thing, you may enjoy taking a peek behind the curtain [via].
- I have a large, red quilted Chanel bag that I borrowed from my sister Ashley. Mary-Kate writes for the Times [via]. Not to be outdone, Ashley (or a reasonable facsimile thereof) blogs about the Oscar fashions.
- Now, I've never had a baby, but these felted wool pads just don't seem like a good idea to me. Itchy!

i am so with ya on the MJ bag. i also love love love the coach anniversary bag (big and white with lots of TDF chunky gold hardware) but here is how my bag snobbery manifests itself: if i'm gonna spend $600 on a handbag, it's NOT gonna be a coach, dammit.
the thought of harry potter nude creeps me out. but not as much as anna wintour being turned on by it.
my fave part of the oscars was the brilliantly edited video homage to writers.

The Zack Morris bag is the best thing ever!
I did not watch the Oscars but I did see a clip with Al Gore joking about running for Pres. That was my favorite part.
Anna Wintour creeps me out in general. I mean the women has not changed her hair in a decade.
I enjoy how you are in a knitting hiatus like myself. My brother's present is half made and I have no drive to pick it back up. I am blaming the rain here.

Gack!!--Spending over $100 on a bag seems ridiculous to me! (I guess being stuck in the sticks will do that to a person...it's a sad state of affairs when Penney's and Sears are the good places to shop.) Granted, finding anything of good quality and natural materials is pretty much a crap-shoot around here...so I guess I would probably pay more for something classic and not pleather. But over a $148,000, for a bag?!
Thanks for the Glampyre links, I've been itching to make a couple of the patterns, so it will be fun watching all the finished knits pop up on the Flickr site.

I think Anne Hathaway looked great in that gown. It sorta reminded me of something Schiaparelli would design and I'd like to see a little more of her kind of wit at stuffy events.
And: Yay Barbie!
