Every knitter is a snob about something. In my case, I turn up my nose to patterns for things that should not be knit. For example, the bow tie pictured with this post. Why oh why would someone think this is a good idea? One can easily purchase far more attractive and functional bow ties from a men’s clothier. I can just picture some knitter inflicting this bow tie on his or her poor unsuspecting fiancé and expecting him to wear it at their wedding.
Resist the urge, knitters!

I'm totally with you on the knitted bow tie.

With you on the suitability of knits issue. Fine line between hobby & obsession & mental illness.
And probably the LifeGems issue--although, there's a weird linky tie-in here, as one of the things which is really bothering me lately is similar. My mom was staying at our home when she passed away, and had changed her newspaper sub to our home. We did cancel it when we came home because even though it was just the daily newspaper, it was still a pressing reminder...but now I'm getting junk mail for her here. Which means that even though I called the San Diego Union-Tribune and said my mother died, please stop sending the paper for her here...they sold her name and the address for marketing anyway. Awesome. Complete and utter frauds.

So, you didn't like the knitted ties from IK a few years back?...
Life Gems is creeping me out!
*Pixies reference!* :)

That heinous blue knitted tie represents the very reason I had no interest in learning to crochet, although my Grandmother, mother, aunts and damn near everyone with ten fingers in my hometown did crochet. How many doilies and antimacassars does one need.
Just had to comment. Come see me sometime.

Laura - I'm glad to hear you are on my side. I was worried someone might comment that they were horribly offended by my disdain for the knitted bowtie.
Wendy - What jerks! I hope you are able to stop the flood of junk mail. It must be rather upsetting.
Veronique - those knitted ties in IK were an abomination!
Girl Fren - I'm with you. I didn't like crochet for a very long time because I didn't realize one could crochet something that would actually be attractive.

I'm not so sure Newlin. Ukulele girl is no Xylophone girl!

i am so irritated about the blueprint thing! arghghgh.
the my little pony intro scares me. it's slightly evil, no?
Posted by: carrie m | June 26, 2007 at 15:51
Heh. I think all My Little Ponys are a wee bit evil.
The Blueprint thing is annoying, but every magazine does it. I'm sure even IK has a breakdown of average subscriber so that they can offer their list up for sale.

Hiya Amy,
Just checking in to make sure you're all okay after what happened yesterday? (If my memory serves me correctly you live in Minneapolis!)
