Billerica women knit good deeds

The second carafe of coffee was delivered by 9 a.m. These highly caffeinated ladies were on a roll.Tuesday morning, a dozen members of the Billerica Senior Center's knitters club met to pack up more than 700 hats, scarves and pairs of mittens they had crafted with their busy hands over the past year.
Piles upon piles of multicolored knit and fleece hats, blue, red, and green children's mittens and matching scarves were heaped upon the table before being stuffed into boxes headed organizations including Lowell's Greenhalge Elementary School, the Middlesex House of Correction, the House of Hope and the Billerica Food Pantry.
